Get On Board: Pathways to Board Service

Thank you to Tempo Waukesha for inviting MWi leaders to speak at your August luncheon meeting to discuss the path to board service and advancing women in leadership.

Presented by Milwaukee Women Inc members: Moderator: Krista Brookman, Vice President, Catalyst Panelists: Lindsay Hammerer, Partner, KPMG LLP & Chair, Milwaukee Women Inc. Deborah Seeger, Senior Vice-President, Co-Founder, Patina Solutions Lori Stortz, CPA, Chief Audit Executive, University of Wisconsin System.

“Heartfelt thanks to  Krista Brookman and Jackie Mortensonfor the amazing panel of @milwaukeewomeninc members who spoke at Tempo Waukesha’s monthly luncheon this week on Board Service and Women on Boards! Noted that there will be more board turnover in the next 10 years than in our history – there’s lots of opportunity for women to move into corporate board seats. Nonprofit board service is also important – Debbie Seeger pointed out that “we all need to be emotionally compensated”. Lindsay Hammerer talked about MWI and their efforts and highlighted research that suggests that boards with a critical number of at least 3 women serving show higher levels of success. And Lori Stortz, CPA talked about boards seeking a cultural fit as well as people with IT/Cyber and HR expertise. Hard to wrap things up with this terrific conversation!” – Lisa Weisman, Program Chair, Tempo Waukesha
