The Milwaukee Women inc’s annual CEO Roundtable began as a way for its members to build the skills needed to join a corporate board.
In its seventh year, Milwaukee Women members sat down with four local leaders on March 1 at the University Club of Milwaukee to learn more about their career journey, their individual company boards and receive their advice.

“It [CEO Roundtable] really began as a way to have open dialogue between people who aspire to be on boards or aspire to build skills towards board readiness with CEOs, who obviously are responsible for their own businesses and a part of their own boards, and really just see this perspective of both and what should our members know so that they can be more ready,” Milwaukee Women inc CEO Roundtable chair Kristin Dufek said.
Dufek is also president of Eppstein Uhen Architects.
Milwaukee Women has a mission to advance inclusive leadership by achieving balanced representation of women on Wisconsin-based boards of directors.
The four CEOs that were part of the discussion included Associated Bank CEO Andy Harmening, Froedtert Health CEO Cathy Jacobson, Husco International Inc. CEO Austin Ramirez and West Bend Mutual Insurance Co. CEO Kevin Steiner.
The CEO Roundtable is Milwaukee Women’s signature event. Dufek estimated 50 or 60 women attended.
“Leadership journeys in general are very unique,” Dufek said. “Some of what we like to learn during this event is just the uniqueness to each of the CEOs that are joining us for it. Their own leadership journeys are fascinating stories. They are interesting, and they never take the same path. I think that’s a really fun conversation to have and see what our members can internalize and see what their own leadership journey looks like for them.”
